Hilkka Becker

Hilkka was senior solicitor with the Immigrant Council of Ireland – Independent Law Centre from 2002 to 2004 and again from 2006 to March 2015. She continues to work with the Immigrant Council in a consultancy role, focussing on EU free movement and statelessness. Hilkka is a graduate of law of the University of Hamburg and is qualified to practice law in Ireland and Germany. She teaches immigration and citizenship law at the Law Society of Ireland and is a member of the Law Society’s Human Rights Committee. Hilkka was appointed a Member of the Irish Refugee Appeals Tribunal in November 2013; she also is an alternate member of the Editorial Team of the International Association of Refugee Law Judges (Europe) which is charged with the development of core judicial training materials on asylum in cooperation with the EASO.
