Ali Ahmed Abdelgader

Ali Ahmed was born in 1995 in the Sahrawi refugee camp in Tindouf, Algeria. Due to the territorial dispute over Western Sahara, Ali has never had a recognised nationality, which makes him stateless.聽
As a child, since 2003, Ali came to Spain as part of the "Vacaciones en Paz" programme, which promotes the reception of Sahrawi children during the summer with Spanish families, which facilitated his learning of Spanish. In 2019 he finished his studies in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Oran, Algeria.聽
Since 2021 he has been living in Spain, where he has initiated an application for recognition of his statelessness status. The difficulties and obstacles that Ali has encountered in this procedure have awakened in him the interest and the need to help other people in the same situation and to make local organisations and society aware of this reality.

Saharawi Collective Youth Association LEFRIG

Our association (Asociaci贸n Juvenil Colectivo Saharaui LEFRIG)聽works to eradicate statelessness in general, and in particular we work with Sahrawis who arrive in Spain from the Sahrawi Refugee Camps in Tindouf (Algeria), to request Statelessness Status. It is a situation that we know very well because many of the members of the association have the recognition of the State of State by the Spanish State.

Our association was born to disseminate the situation of the Sahrawi people, but currently most of the work we do is accompanying and advising applicants for the Stateless Status.
