This submission to the 38th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on the right to a nationality and human rights challenges pertaining to statelessness in Belgium, was submitted by NANSEN, the European Network on Statelessness and the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion. This submission partially draws on information and analysis from ENS’s Statelessness Index, which covers Belgium. It focuses on: statelessness determination and status; liberty and security of the person and arbitrary detention; children’s right to a nationality.
