In November 2025, Statefree e.V. and the European Network on Statelessness (ENS) came together to hold a joint conference in Berlin: Statelessness & Innovation: Building Power Through Collective Action.Â
Over three days, more than 100 participants – including people with lived experience of statelessness, community organisers, NGOs, lawyers, researchers, policymakers, institutions, media and allies – shared expertise and good practice, learned about ongoing work, reflected on challenges, imagined how to create change, and found routes forward. Â
There were so many highlights, from new connections made to insightful workshop discussions, recommendations co-developed, and opportunities to collaborate, enriched by music, dance, and poetry.Â
Our new report explores our key outcomes from the conference, and the learnings, actions, and recommendations we will be taking into our collective work moving forward.
The conference demonstrated the power of our community, our networks and the wider sector working on statelessness and intersecting issues, and laid the foundations for ongoing advocacy and collaboration.
We left Berlin feeling empowered, motivated and ready to effect change on statelessness, together.
We look forward to continuing to build power through collective action with all of you - our members, partners, community and supporters - over the coming months and years.
