This submission to the 88th Pre-Sessional Working Group of the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) on the right of every child to acquire and preserve a nationality under Article 7 and 8 of the CRC in accordance with the Guiding Principles to the Convention in the United Kingdom was submitted by Liverpool Law Clinic, the European Network on Statelessness (ENS) and the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion (ISI). It is endorsed by the British Rohingya Community, Bail for Immigration Detainees, Jesuit Refugee Service UK and the Kuwaiti Community Association. The submission focuses on the right to acquire a nationality of children born stateless in the UK; access to protection for stateless migrant and refugee children; the right to birth registration; and child rights in the context of nationality deprivation.
