Director of the European Network on Statelessness (ENS) Chris Nash, explains why ENS started our #LockedinLimbo campaign to protect some of the most vulnerable people from being locked in immigration detention. Stateless people are often deprived of their liberty simply because they don’t have a nationality. And once they are in detention they face being locked up for months and years because no country will accept them.
ENS took the campaign to the Council of Europe to call on European states to put in place procedures to identify people without a nationality so that they don’t end up #LockedinLimbo.
